Wrapping things up for the month of July is this week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-Up. Its crazy to say that 2010 is already halfway over but hey, time is always ticking right? Wait no further because this week’s post has some great articles (especially the musically related “Crazy Shoe of the Week”).

Tips for Running in Hot and Humid Weather

Today is the last day of July but the thermometer is still touching triple digits in some areas around the country. Hydration is perhaps the most important element while running, and this article has some greats tips for having a healthy run. Speaking of important elements while running, shoe insoles are another key component needed to treat the body (feet of course) to a comfortable work out.

5 iPhone Apps for Fitness Nuts

Here is a fun little post that highlights some great fitness apps for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s always good to track your progress when you’re working out or training for a competition. Take a look at these and get your health back on track.

The 10 Laws of Injury Prevention

Injuries suck, especially if you’re a die-hard fitness fanatic. This is a great article that gives some simple, yet often overlooked, tips to prevent fitness injuries. The very last injury prevention tip digs into the dilemma of buying shoes that fit……take a peak. Also, prevent foot and leg injuries by inviting new shoe insoles into your kicks.

12 Coolest Geeky Shoes Ever

This article actually came out last year; however, some of the shoes showcased in here are sick (sick = cool). It only felt right that we show some type of love for the Transformers movie series that is currently being filmed in Chicago, IL by featuring a post with shoes related to the cinematic masterpiece. Please enjoy….

Crazy Shoe of the Week

This week’s Crazy Shoe of the Week will appeal to all of our music lovers out there….especially all of you 80’s hair band enthusiasts. Please feast your eyes on the “Guitar Heels”.

That’s going to do it for this weeks post and that’s going to wrap things up for RxSorbo in July. The summer is quickly wrapping up so be sure to enjoy the warm weather with some nice jogs or long bike rides. Whatever you fancy in the summer, enjoy it while it lasts.

Have a great weekend….

Hey look, we’re actually on time for this week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-up. A lot has been going on over here at RxSorbo and we wanted to make sure that this weeks post was on time and ready to be viewed.

Men’s Shoes to Wear with Shorts

This is an interesting subject that, believe it or not, a lot of men suffer from. We’re sure that at least once in your life you’ve probably been driving to work and noticed somebody (99.9% of the time its probably an older gentleman) wearing white socks and shorts, with a pair of slip on flipflops. This look may have been “in” sometime before our time, but its definitely an expired sense of fashion. If you know somebody, or maybe you’re one of the instigators polluting others vision by sporting the look (this is a judge free blog so don’t panic), please read this article……help is out there

Going Green

These days, going “green” is the cool thing…..and apparently the green trend is crossing over into this year’s major fashion trend. Take a look at this article and see what awaits us all in the next coming months.

After last week’s post about “15 Unusual and Creative Fashion Shoes”, we’re really going to try hard to award one pair of shoes with the title: “Crazy Shoe of The Week”. Lets just say that last week’s Bird Shoes took the inagural award…..This week’s winner isn’t too hard too far behind. Please enjoy the lovely Leopard shoes. Notice how the Leopard is on a leash connected to the big toe. We love the designer’s attention to detail.

Best Running Shoes: Consumer Reports

Take a look at the Consumer Reports choice for best running shoes. (summarized version by third party).

Triathlon Training Video

Check out this great Triathlon training video….. Triathlons are a perfect example of an athletically challenging activity where shoe insoles should 100% be taken into serious consideration. (see the below link)

Thanks for stopping by and checking out this weeks post….we hope you’ll stop by again soon. Have a great weekend and give your feet a nice rest with some new shoe insoles.

This week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-up is going to be a little crazy. We have some great articles/posts that range from ridiculous shoe fashion to running with the bulls. Grab a drink, kick back your feet and enjoy…

15 Unusual and Creative Fashion Shoes

To me, fashion is like trying to read Egyptian hieroglyphics for the first time; I just don’t get it, and might not ever. This article certainly backs my simile. Take a look at some of these shoes and ladies, ask yourself this question: “Would I ever wear these shoes in public”? Gentlemen, ask yourself this question: “Would I ever be with a woman that would even consider taking a second glance at these shoes, let alone putting them on their feet”?

–Check out the bird shoes…. All time favorite.

High Heeled Sneakers: Yay or Nay?

This article somewhat touches on the same subject as the previous: bizarre fashion. I can’t really recall my first time seeing a pair of high-heeled sneakers in action, but I’m pretty sure that my reaction may have been similar to a Wile E. Coyote face (see picture). Regardless, we’re interested in hearing your opinion on this subject.

Cheap Shoes That Look Great

We all know that the economy is, well let’s just say, not doing so great at the moment. Nobody wants to reflect their current financial struggles on their fashion, which is why we want to offer this article about cheaply priced shoes so you can stay up to date on your fashion (shoes in particular). Here’s a great tip though: “Spruce up your shoes, either new or old, with some new shoe insoles”.

Running With The Bulls

Even though Spain just claimed the World Cup title, they’re not entirely finished showing off their worldly potential. Spain hosts “the running of the bulls” every year on July 6th where brave (or outright crazy) people literally run from live Bulls down an extremely narrow street with little to no “safety” exits. I’m all about extreme sports, but this is still tough for me to swallow. Take a look.

Running With he Bulls “New Orleans Style”

Answering the call to be just as cool (or perhaps even cooler) than the Spaniards, Americans have created their own little running of the bull event…..it’s just a little different. Please compare.

That’s going to do it for this week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up. We hope that you enjoyed this sort of “whacky” link round up….but hey, everybody needs to smile every once in awhile right?

Have a great weekend and remember take your shoe insoles a little more seriously…you’ll thanks us in the future.

Thanks,

Its a bittersweet moment for soccer: We’re absolutely going to miss the great comradery between nations and the exciting upset victories by countries less known…..that being said, there are some things that we’re happy to see go: we’re definitely not going to miss all of those career ending fake injuries that happened every 5 minutes (or so it seemed)….and we can finally say good-bye to the ear splitting “Vuvuzelas” that made every game sound as if it were being played next to a gigantic bee hive.

: )

Farewell to the World Cup.

Keep in mind, even though soccer’s main event is over for the summer (well, actually 4 years) that doesn’t mean that we’re going anywhere……nope, we’ll be here with more fun facts about sports and activities related to shoe insoles.

Check back this Friday for another edition of: “The RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up”.

Have a great week!

We’re back with the RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-up after being away for 2 weeks. A lot has happened since we were gone: The US Soccer team fell to Ghana in the World Cup (queue the tears), The Chicago Blackhawks are still the Stanley Cup Champs (yet they’ve shed almost half of the their championship roster for cap space) and oh wait, I think Lebron James had something important to say the other day…… Regardless, we’re glad to be back with more interesting topics for our readers. Please enjoy!

Lebron’s New Kicks

Well, if you haven’t heard by now, Lebron James is now a member or the Miami Heat. Some may call him a traitor, some may refer to him as a “smart business man”…we’re going to stay neutral on this subject by saying: “Good Luck to all parties”. Now that we’ve pulled out the white flag, here is a peak at Lebron’s 2010-2011 shoes. Rumors have it saying that Lebron has bad knees so lets hope that he starts the comfort/healing process with some added support from shoe insoles.

Chris Bosh’s Kicks

Lebron’s new team mate, Chris Bosh, has some pretty interesting shoes too. Check these bad boys out.

Great little article giving tips on how to find the best fit when purchasing running shoes. Looks like everybody can benefit from this post.

Attention all of our Female followers: The Debate is On!!!

That’ll wrap things up for this week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up. Sorry for being away for 2 weeks; we’ll be sure to stay in touch with everybody. Have a great weekend and drink plenty of water if you’re out doors.

This week in the RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-Up, we’re going to touch on a few topics that relate to the World’s game; Soccer (also known as football to majority of the world). Every 4 years countries and nations from around the world battle against each other to prove which will be crowned the World Cup Champion…. As this post is being written, the U.S. Soccer Team is facing off against Slovakia in a must win situation for advancing to the next round. We have our fingers crossed…

Happy Feet or Kicking It New School

If you’ve been watching the World Cup for the past few days, we’re guessing that your eyes have uncontrollably taken a glance at the colorful shoes that players are sporting this year. Soccer is perhaps the “Bling’iest” sport when it comes to over the top decorations and colors on shoes. This is a great article that touches on the top 3 soccer shoe manufacturers (Adidas, Nike & Puma), and gives a peak at what players are wearing for this year’s tournament.

Wide Soccer Cleats

Some people have wide feet; it’s normal. This article helps soccer players with wide feet find the best fitting shoe and gives details on what to look for as far as comfort. Players also need to keep in mind that shoe insoles play an important part in performance and endurance….You don’t want to take your cleats off after a long game and have sores, or even worse blisters, that can keep you off the field for the next games to come. Take care of your feet, especially when playing soccer, because they’re the driving force of the sport.

How Nike Turned the World Cup Purple and Orange

Great little article that dives into Nike’s branding approach for their widely used soccer shoes (or “boots”, as they’re referred to in this article). Nike is obviously doing something right if 16 out of 23 players on the U.S., Brazil and Australian teams are using their shoes.

2010 World Cup Photos

We’re closing this week’s list with a link to some of the 2010 World Cup photos that made headlines. If you haven’t been watching any of the matches and feel like you need a refresh of what’s been going on; take a look. (Courtesy of ESPN)

That’s going to do it for us on this week’s RxSorbo Weekly Link Round-Up. As of now, the U.S. is trailing Slovenia 2-1 in the second half. Looks like we’re going to have to put our rally caps on and hope for a last minute miracle….. Hey, it can be done right?

Have a great weekend and remember to take care of your feet, particularly with some new shoe insoles if you’re sporting a worn out pair.

Keeping the topics current, we have this week’s installment of the RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up. As promised, we searched the web for interesting articles that were posted this past week and found everything from basic health information to a fun Sex and The City 2 related post. Take a look at our findings for the week….

The Runner World 2010 Running Shoe Guide

- Some nice reviews for about 19 different types of running shoes. Even better for our viewers, it has VIDEOS!! If you’re like us and get bored of constantly reading article after article after article; then you’ll like this breath of fresh air with some videos and close-ups of different shoes highlighted in the post.

Running in the heat

- With summer officially here, the heat is on…literally. Dehydration can be a runners worst enemy, but keep in mind, its not the only catalyst for welcoming a risky health situation. This is a great article that runners from all angles (beginners to novice) should look over before taking on the heat.

How to protect your knees

- This article provides some general information about protecting your knees and how to properly train. *great article for athletes to read up on*

Why do my hands go numb when I run?

- Perhaps an over looked subject that tends to get brushed off instead of understood; the subject of numbness while running. May sound weird to some people; however, addressing the situation can result in better performance and enhanced comfort running.

“Sex and the City 2″ shoes

- We found this great article that will certainly appeal to most of our female readers: The Shoes in “Sex and the City 2”…. Carrie and company sport some fancy shoes for the new film and this post will highlights a few pairs. *On a side note: If you’re experiencing pain from your high heels, check out what Mrs. Maine 2007 said about our Metatarsal pads.

That is going to wrap it up for this week’s edition of the RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up. Please feel free to drop us a line, or even better, send us your own personal review of any RxSorbo shoe insoles and you may see your review on our blog. Have a great weekend and run hard (but run in comfort)

RxSorbo would like to introduce a new segment to its blog to help connect viewers with topics from across the world that relate to RxSorbo shoe insoles. Each week we will search the web for articles/stories/reviews/videos/pictures etc. that are linked to running, walking, exercise, merchandise, technology, events, etc ….. basically anything we find interesting; and provide a direct link to that piece (via the web) for you to check out.

Why are we doing this? Well, we want to share interesting pieces that will help brush up your knowledge of any new and cutting edge topics that may help simplify your life, or more importantly, improve your health and safety…. (of course, with the occasional laugh snuck in there as well).

So with out further adieu lets kick things off with our very first “RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up”

Happy Dog Bite prevention week….

-Yes that sort of sums it up

How NOT to Race:

- So its not a blog article per say, but its stories that people are posting about their worst race, and some of them are very entertaining.

Ocho Cinco Reebok ZigTech

- Cool Ocho Cinco Reebock Zigtech commercial.. We haven’t tried these shoes at all but its always interesting how Reebok will marketing them.. They claim its 20% less wear and tear on the leg muscles.. Not sure if we’ll buy them at all but we like the fact they’re focusing on the wear and tear your body takes during a run… (Personally I will always think the Pumps were the greatest thing)

Triathlon Training: Heart Rate Training:

- Good article that goes into both the principles and science behind heat rate training.

High Heels and Running: The Good The Bad and The Ugly

- Ok so we know there are a lot of these articles talking about how harmful High Heels can be; but always good to refresh. This one give some practical advice on how to minimize the time spent in them.

We hope you enjoyed our very first addition of the “RxSorbo Weekly Link Round Up”. Be sure to check out our blog every Friday afternoon for the next group of topics related to shoe insoles.

Have a great weekend!

It’s about that time of year. Whether you’re buying the latest and greatest shoe on the market or just simply dusting off the old pair and getting ready for summer, there is always one frequently overlooked aspect that can make make all the difference in the world with your shoes; we’re talking about the insoles. Have you ever really looked at the original insoles that come with shoes? Check it out! Grab your shoes, regardless of them being brand new or seasoned with experience, and pull out the insoles…. Are they 1/8thof an inch, or at best ¼ inch of foam? If they are, that isn’t very much protection for your feet, which happen to be absorbing an average of 63.5 tons of force in just a 1 mile walk.(1.) Stock shoe insoles may have cool designs with modern appeal that “blend well” with the style of the shoe, but are they really doing as much as they could, or should?

So what is the issue with those “stock” “foam” insoles? For starters, do you really think big brands such as: Nike, Adidas, Saucony, New Balance, etc. spend most of their time designing their insoles? … Not really. And why is that? Well, simply its not their industry. Don’t get us wrong, a nice pair of good-looking shoes is a great thing to have, but with out the proper insoles you can selling yourself short in comfort of your shoes.

Take this bit of info into thought: “stock” insoles are primarily made out of “foam” material. Foam, when stripped of its often misunderstood name, is simply “bubbles” and “capsules” that absorb impact by compressing, or “popping.” How many times can a bubble pop/compress and still provide consistent protection? Not much. To sum things up, foam insoles have a very short lifespan. RxSorbo insoles on the other hand are made with a visco-elastic polymer that after it absorbs the impact it rebounds to its normal shape.

~Take a look at the insoles that are currently in your shoes are they just "foam"?~

Now what makes our insoles the best?? (In our opinion at least)

RxSorbo insoles are made of Sorbothane®, which absorb shock and provide protection to your body with every step you take. Most RxSorbo insoles were created to replace your “stock” insoles and provide you with that extra comfort and protection your body deserves. (We do create some very thin insoles that can, if you like, go over your existing insoles like the SorboGel, or the SorboLite)

So why did RxSorbo choose Sorbothane® over what any of the “other” insole companies use?

Since its introduction, 25 years ago, Sorbothane® has been used in many varied energy absorbing product categories. Sorbothane Inc. engineers supplied the NASA design team with a unique Sorbothane® isolator to protect shuttle cameras from the violent forces thrust upon them during launch. NASA also uses Sorbothane to isolate pumps on the International Space Station and to vibration/shock mount electronics on the new ARES I rocket — the replacement for the Space Shuttle, due to launch in 2012. The Liberty Bell was successfully moved using specially designed Sorbothane® isolators. When Wilson® Sporting Goods needed a superior shock absorber, for their new line of high-tech baseball gloves, they turned to Sorbothane®.

Think about this: if NASA trusts Sorbothane to protect its extremely fragile multimillion dollar equipment, imagine what it can do for your feet?

RxSorbo® insoles are excellent for everyone who walks, works, plays sports or spends long hours on their feet. RxSorbo® insoles have been proven to dramatically help individuals experiencing foot discomfort caused by medical conditions such as shin splits, heel spurs and ulcerations caused by diabetes. So whether you are putting them into your new shoes or simply giving your old shoes a well needed upgrade try a pair of RxSorbo insoles, isn’t your body worth it?

“I am an endurance athlete who has completed 3 Ironman triathlons (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 mile run), multiple shorter distance triathlons and countless running races. After taking some time off, I decided to try my hand at an ultra-marathon with hopes of completing a 100 mile run. I was training for my first 50 mile run. On a short, easy run I stepped off a curb and hurt my back. It was bad enough to halt my training and forced me to take so much time off that I had to bail out of the race. Since that time, I was mentally spent and could not come around to doing any other races. For about one year I talked about racing again and just never got around to it. At my wife’s urging, I started to look for another race and began to take my training and back rehabilitation more seriously.

Amanda (my wife) urged me to sign up and train for the Holcomb Valley 33 mile race in June 2009. I paid the fee, and began training. Running enthusiasts love to talk about shoes, training, and anything else that may help their performance. In these talks and while doing some research, I heard about the benefits of insoles to provide additional support and cushion while a person runs. I came across the www.RxSorbo.com site and found that insoles containing Sorbothane had many positive reviews so I decided to give them a try. My choice in insoles was the Sorbothane Ultra Orthotic Arch because I have flat feet. It took a few runs to get used to them, but I was quickly becoming a fan of the way my feet felt in them.

My training consisted of 50-60 miles per week in varying terrain and several training runs in altitude since the run would take place in the mountains of Big Bear, Ca. I would run long (2 to 2.5 hours) twice per week and sometimes had another run later in the day after those long runs. I had some 1 to 1.5 hour runs, and several half hour to one hour runs. Typically I would take one day off and just lift weights but did not run on that day. Race day was quickly approaching, and I was able to do a self supported marathon. This day, I left the house with a backpack full of water, food, and asked Amanda to pick me up 4 hours later! This is the best I had felt in years.

Race day provided me with ideal weather conditions and a beautiful race course. The race was on dirt trails, fire roads, and the popular Pacific Crest Trail. It had a lot of hills, rocks, and steep climbs. Throughout the race, my feet barely ached which was a great relief. From other races, I was used to hurting feet but I think the running surface and the use of the insoles helped the cause. I was very smart with my pace and therefore my legs and lungs kept up with my mind’s will to go, go, go. I had conserved energy which allowed me to stay strong at the pivotal 20-25 mile mark. I stayed on track with my nutrition and having run part of the course knew that the last 3 miles would be steep downhills, dangerous, and fast. My goal was to finish in 5 hours and 30 minutes but I had a finish time of 5 hours and 47 minutes. Had I not spent time joking around at the aid stations and taking pictures with my family I would have come in closer to my goal. I finished top 20, with no complaints. I think I am back on track with the physical fitness and mental attitude necessary to be an endurance athlete. I’m happy that Amanda nudged me to race, and I am happy to have found a pair of insoles that I love to run with as much as I love to run with my dogs. I look forward to another race, and my pair of trusty Rx Sorbo Insoles.
