Its a bittersweet moment for soccer: We’re absolutely going to miss the great comradery between nations and the exciting upset victories by countries less known…..that being said, there are some things that we’re happy to see go: we’re definitely not going to miss all of those career ending fake injuries that happened every 5 minutes (or so it seemed)….and we can finally say good-bye to the ear splitting “Vuvuzelas” that made every game sound as if it were being played next to a gigantic bee hive.

Farewell to the World Cup.

Keep in mind, even though soccer’s main event is over for the summer (well, actually 4 years) that doesn’t mean that we’re going anywhere……nope, we’ll be here with more fun facts about sports and activities related to shoe insoles.

If you’ve been watching the World Cup for the past few days, we’re guessing that your eyes have uncontrollably taken a glance at the colorful shoes that players are sporting this year. Soccer is perhaps the “Bling’iest” sport when it comes to over the top decorations and colors on shoes.  This is a great article that touches on the top 3 soccer shoe manufacturers (Adidas, Nike & Puma), and gives a peak at what players are wearing for this year’s tournament.

Wide Soccer Cleats

Some people have wide feet; it’s normal.  This article helps soccer players with wide feet find the best fitting shoe and gives details on what to look for as far as comfort.  Players also need to keep in mind that shoe insoles play an important part in performance and endurance….You don’t want to take your cleats off after a long game and have sores, or even worse blisters, that can keep you off the field for the next games to come.  Take care of your feet, especially when playing soccer, because they’re the driving force of the sport.

Great little article that dives into Nike’s branding approach for their widely used soccer shoes (or “boots”, as they’re referred to in this article).  Nike is obviously doing something right if 16 out of 23 players on the U.S., Brazil and Australian teams are using their shoes.
